My name is Renée Reizman, and I would like your help contributing to an ambitious project that requires 1 quilting block from every county in the state.
This quilt, titled The Nebraska Intranet, represents the ways community and connectivity have changed over time. Each county should create a block that reflects upon the way quilting will change, or has changed, in their lifetime. This could be a grand vision, such as the contemplating rise of art and modern quilting and the loss of traditional methods. Or, it could be a meditation on more practical changes, like the growing popularity of machine quilting to replace the laborious, deftly skilled practice of hand quilting.
Block requirements --
Block Size: 12” (12.5 x 12.5)
Main Colorway: Blue, Yellow, White
Accent Color: Metallic / shiny fabric
(the accent color can be any color you like, or remain in the main colorway.)
Special Instructions: Name of county must be incorporated into the block - it can be small, or a main feature of the design, your choice.
The deadline for the blocks is November 1, 2017.
As for me, I'm an artist & curator from Los Angeles, CA. I've been living in Nebraska this summer to research how information technology is changing American quilting in rural areas.
Please ask me any follow up questions, and let me know if you would like to contribute to this project! I will follow up with more information once I get a response.
