Evening Banquets
Join us Friday night for some songs around the campfire by the Robidoux Pass Musicians.  Come in your best “western duds” and enjoy all the “Stars” (your friends) over the Pine Ridge.  Following dinner we'll hear from Marsha McCloskey about feathered star quilts and throughout the evening we'll have the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items to help raise money for our pledge to IQSC with an update from Greg Jensen.

On Saturday come dressed as your favorite “star”.  Whoever or whatever your favorite star is - use your imagination and have fun!  Our after-dinner speaker will be Ami Simms who'll have us laughing as she talks about “Living with Quilts”.  We'll have our Awards ceremony, hold the drawing for “Pineapple Delight”, followed by Show and Tell with the unveiling of the newest raffle quilt as the finale.

Block Challenge
Can you make it???
We designed this block originally with the idea of using it as the QNE friendship block drawing but when pieced, we realized it would be a more difficult block to make than the usual block drawing blocks.  However, many of you are seasoned quilters so we want you to show us your skills!  Make the block any size you want.  Put needles on the pines, glitter on the stars- whatever.  Make sure to put your name on the unfinished block - somewhere.  Drop it off when you register and we'll put it with the others on display.  Pick up your own block on Saturday to take home and make into a memento of all the fun you had at QNE 2008!!

Stars Over the Pine Ridge Challenge

Must have at least one pieced or applique star.  Needs to be 3 layers and quilted, not tied. The quilt can have a perimeter no larger than 120 inches (eg. - 24"x36", or 30" square or a circle with a 28" radius)

Awards will be given in the following four categories:

  • Most Contemporary
  • Most "antique-looking" yet newly made
  • Best article of clothing
  • Bet use of the convention theme:"Stars Over the Pine Ridge"

In choosing the best in each category, consideration will also be given to degree of difficulty, workmanship and embellishments that enhance the finished project.  Decision will be made by an anonymous independent panel.

NEW PROCEDURE FOR RAFFLE QUILTS
If your guild would like to display your raffle quilt at QuiltNebraska please note that we will be doing things differently this year.  The quilts will be displayed in the Gold Room, close to the High Rise Dorm, BUT sales of the tickets will take place in the Student Center.  Please bring your quilt to the Gold Room on Thursday by 7pm, and check it in.  We will hang it for you.
EACH GUILD will keep possession of their own money/ticket bag.  Each guild is responsible for selling their own tickets.   Look for the signs posted in the STUDENT CENTER for the location of the table and chairs to use for the sales of your tickets.
We would suggest that the prime time for selling the tickets would be during meal times.  It would also be nice to have a good sized picture of your quilt with your bag so that people are sure they are buying the tickets for the quilt they want.

Please take Challenge, Progressive, Raffle, and Teacher quilts to the Gold Room for display by 7 pm, Thursday.  If you can't make it by 7 pm, or have a friend bring it, please send your item so that it arrives by Monday, July 21, to:
