Becky Goldsmith
Becky was born and raised in Oklahoma City. She and her husband Steve met at the University of Oklahoma where she
obtained a degree in interior design. They married in 1978 and her husband's career in Zoology has led them to Tempe,
AZ, Tulsa, OK and most recently to Sherman, TX. Fortunately she can make quilts anywhere! Becky discovered
quilting when her boys Chris, now 26 and Jeff, now 23, needed comforters for their bunk beds - she's not put her needle down
since! She met Linda Jenkins, her partner in Piece O' Cake Designs in 1994, not long after she started quilting, at
a meeting of the Green Country Quilters Guild in Tulsa. She finds making quilts is interesting, fulfilling and challenging,
and running the business with Linda exhilarating. It's not what she thought she would be doing with her life - it's
so much better! Becky and Steve have 2 grandchildren, Elanor, born November 2002 and Jack, born October 2007.
She's convinced that being a “Nana” is truly wonderful! hendorf@cableone.net - www.pieceocake.com

Marsha McCloskey
Marsha is well known throughout the quilting world. Graphic arts major in college, she turned from printmaking
to quiltmaking in 1969 as motherhood made the messier media impractical. Marsha sold her earliest quilting efforts at
the weekly Saturday Market in Eugene, Oregon then made patchwork gift items for craft fairs and gift shops in the Northwest
and California for many years, developing her skills as a seamstress and fabric artist. In 1975 she began teaching and
has taught at conferences and quilt guilds in 40 different US states and in 1990 began teaching internationally - Australia,
New Zealand, Holland, Belgium, France, Canada, Japan, England, Norway and Denmark. Marsha specializes in Feathered Star
but her designs for multi-fabric, rotary-cut and machine-pieced quilts can all be made by the average quilter. Her exceptional
sense of color encourages others to branch out into new color schemes and fabric uses. Her first book, Small Quilts,
1981, was used by countless quilters to make their first quilts. She's co-authored over twenty books on quiltmaking
and continues to make and design quilts, write quilt books, travel and teach. mccloskey1@aol.com - www.marshamccloskey.com

Ami Simms Ami was trained as a teacher and long ago, in what seems another life;
she taught second graders and loved it! After a few years, however, her school district experienced 'declining enrollment'
and no longer needed her. She was devastated but it turned out to be the luckiest day of her life. She became
a professional quilter, combining her two loves: quilting and teaching. After more than 20 years on the national circuit
she still looks forward to every trip. She gets to work with people who never fail to inspire her. She only teaches
subject matter about which she is truly passionate - no spelling or long division - and giggling in class is highly encouraged.
She'll show you everything she knows as long as you realize there isn't just ONE right way to do anything; you pick what works
for you. She is convinced that a life without quilting would be pretty dull. She's willing to leave her home and
family for a few days each month to prove that point. amisimms@aol.com - www.amisimms.com

that challenge she discovered instead that the 2” hexagons she turned to were even easier, despite the set-in seams
by machine! (Hexagon Mosaic by Machine) Barb is also the inventor of Gorges Quilt Care Labels. bgorges4@msn.com - 307-634-0463
