Starlight Rhapsody

The 2023 Nebraska State Quilt Guild Raffle Quilt

Starlight Rhapsody was designed by Scott A. Flanagan, stitched by First Friday ( Dee Acklie, Kitty Bailey, Bonnie Kahler, and Cheri Vossberg), and quilted by Kris Reeves.

The quilt is a rhapsody of traditional blocks with a modern layout and a touch of crazy quilting. The quilt is heavily quilted and embellished with laces, buttons, beads, and trims. The batiks are a range of blues, which can be found at Nebraska Quilt Company. Thank you, Nebraska Quilt Company for the contribution you made towards the quilt.

Tickets are $2 a piece or $20 for a book of 10 and only 2000 will be sold. Tickets are available for purchase through the Quilt Mom, Jayne Schlosser. You can purchase tickets or reserve the quilt for your local show or shop. Jayne can be reached at or 402-895-6849.

Raffle Quilts from Years Past

“Feathered Fantasy” is 94” x 94” and is an all-embroidered quilt. It was made by Nancy Peters of Papillion, NE, and quilted by Deb Miner of Bellevue, NE.
“Radiance” is 75” x 75” and was pieced by Carol Woerlen, Johnson, NE, and Sharon Clark and Jill Vanderboegh, both of Auburn, NE. It was quilted by Pam Estrada of the Fabric Fairie, Auburn, NE. The quilt is an original design by Jill Vanderboegh. The pattern, called Spectrum Revisited, is available.
“Double Framed and Flying” designed and made by Karen Ruwe, quilted by Sue Steier, triple binding by Sheri Ruwe.
“Nebraska Prairie Wedding” pieced by LeeAnn Meduna, appliquéd by Linda Winter, and quilted by Kris Vierra. From a pattern by Edyta Sitar.
“Nebraska’s Bright Stars” was designed by Jan Sears, Kimball, NE; Sharon Cripps, Whitney, NE; and Cindy Scheinost, Scottsbluff, NE. It was pieced and beaded by Jan Sears and Sharon Cripps. It was quilted by Whitney Tewahade, Ta-da Quilt Shop, Chadron, NE.
“Scarlet Sampler” was designed and made by Diane Harris, Keri Wheeler, Debra Bauerle, Jan Wilson, and Glenda Herz. It was quilted by Kris Vierra.
“Circles of Fun” was designed and constructed by Marty Kleppinger and Connie Olson. Janet Kugler was the advisor.
The quilt was machine quilted by Rich O’Hare.
“Shimmering Stars” was designed and constructed by Marie Clark, Gloria Miller, and Joan Waldman.
Quilting was done by Kris Vierra.
“Ride the Rails” was made by Katie Wilson, Elaine Koenig, Mary Weich, Kaye Petta, and Stephanie Stuckrath.

“COSMOS” was designed by Karen and Sheri Ruwe and quilted by Peg Pennell.
“Magic of the Rose” by Marie Clark and her Committee of Gloria Miller, Joan Waldman, and Sandra Kosch.
Quilting by Kris Viera.
“Stars Across Nebraska … and beyond” was made by Jan Stehlik and Bonnie Kucera.
Rich O’Hare from the Cosmic Cow did the machine quilting.
“Arabesque” was made by Mary Sue Suit and Judy Woodworth.

“Pine Ridge Points” was made by Peggy Bruns, with some assistance from Linda Maloley.
“Pineapple Delight” was hand-quilted by Bea Bauerle.
“Nebraska’s Rising Sun” was made by Sandi McMillan and Laura Franchini.
“Early Frost on the Prairie” was designed by Eileen Peterson and pieced and hand appliquéd by Marilyn Ellner, Marilyn Lingg, Eileen Peterson, and Linda Winter. Machine quilting was by Eileen Peterson.
“In Full Bloom” was designed by Paulette Peters and made by the Friends-All-Around quilt group.
“Hot Lava” was made by Peg Pennell and Dianne Thomas.
